Aluminum Foil Tape: 5 Reasons to Use It

Metal foil tape combines the adaptability of aluminum with the weather-resistant sealing power of adhesive tape to create an extraordinarily adaptable solution.

Aluminum foil tape is so versatile that it’s utilized in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing and construction.

Moisture and chemical resistance, thermal conductivity, flame resistance, heat, light reflection, and weatherability are all advantages of this material. It results in a tape that can be used in a variety of applications.

Foil tapes have a metal-foil backing that contributes to the tape’s malleability, conductive properties, and ruggedness. Aluminum, aluminum with glass, lead, copper, copper with tin plating, and steel are all foil tape carriers.

Aluminum foil tape, on the other hand, is the most extensively used foil tape in the building and construction industry. Overall, we engineered our foil tapes at Delta Duct to have all the properties of aluminum with the added benefit of an aggressive, long-lasting adhesive.

Here are the top five reasons why our foil tape is such a popular choice among our customers:

1. Extensive feature list

Delta Duct Aluminum Foil Tape is made of nominal dead soft aluminum foil with a strong synthetic rubber-resin adhesive and a simple release liner.

Excellent peel adhesion, permanent bonding, good water, and fire resistance, and good aging resistance are just a few of the benefits.

Foil tape with high performance and professional-quality applications. Ideal for sealing foil jacketing insulation joints and seams against moisture and vapor. Suitable for a variety of different long-term projects.

2. Temperature adaptability in extreme cold and heat.

Our foil tape can be applied at temperatures ranging from 14°F to 104°F and works in temperatures ranging from 248°F to -22°F. In chilly temperatures, most cassettes do not operate properly. The adhesive hardens and the tape’s sticking ability is reduced when exposed to extreme cold. It’s possible that the tape won’t stick at all if you apply it in cold weather. Excessive heat, on the other hand, might cause the adhesive on some tapes to melt, rendering them worthless.

3. Acrylic adhesive was used.

The all-weather aluminum foil tape from Delta Duct is coated with a high-performance flame-retardant solvent acrylic adhesive that works in both hot and cold weather.

Most duct tapes, after all, are constructed with a rubber adhesive that has been known to delaminate from its backing in high-temperature situations. Other synthetic rubber adhesives may have a wider temperature range, but they also have lower mechanical strength, poor aging resistance, and are sensitive to UV light. We achieved greater resilience and lifespan by inventing a foil tape with an acrylic adhesive that cures and sticks to a surface.

4. An excellent substitute for mastic

Our aluminum foil tape products aren’t as dirty as mastic, and they require less equipment (no need for old clothes, eye protection, gloves, paintbrushes, drop cloths, etc.) It seals large areas without the use of additional fasteners like sheet metal screws, scrap metal, or drywall mesh, and it can be used to seal holes in a furnace or air handler.

5. Capable of withstanding the test of time

Pressure-sensitive tapes are frequently utilized in construction in locations that are hidden (like house wrap or foil-faced insulation). As a result, they are difficult to repair or replace. Aluminum foil tape has superior cohesion, adhesion, and thermal stability to rubber adhesive tape because of its acrylic adhesive technology.

Delta Duct’s line of foil tape products is designed to hold up to temperature fluctuations, exposure to UV light, and other solvents that would typically impact and break down the adhesive effectiveness of different types of tape, making them the ideal choice for both construction and industrial applications.
